TROY - An attorney for District Attorney Patricia DeAngelis on Friday called a former employee's $1 million lawsuit a "collection of gossip, profanity, speculation and surmise" that should be thrown out.

Less than a week before DeAngelis seeks election to a county judgeship, her attorney, Daniel J. Stewart, filed a motion to dismiss an Oct. 14 lawsuit from Jennifer Sober, a former assistant district attorney in her office.

Sober's state Supreme Court suit alleges unethical behavior in DeAngelis' office and claims Sober was defamed and wrongly terminated. She is seeking $1 million in damages.
