There's big money in wine.
How big was quantified in a new economic survey of New York's wine industry by MKF Research out of Napa, Calif., commissioned by the Empire State Development Corporation and New York Wine and Grape Foundation. It was released Monday.
The surveyors are the industry standard for reasonably unhyped data, since they frequently generate their information as part of the wine investment and banking business.
MKF has wine, grapes and grape juice in New York pegged as a $6 billion-a-year industry. That's billion.
