In the Oct. 16 Sunday Times Union article on choosing voting machines for New York, Larry Tonelli, New York state manager for Sequoia Voting Systems says, "Only Bo Lipari wants optical scan."
Apparently Mr. Tonelli has not been paying attention. The New York State League of Women Voters has endorsed paper ballots/optical scan. The 54,000-member Public Employees Federation state workers union has passed a resolution supporting optical scan, as have county legislatures around the state. A 1,000-signature petition from Schoharie and Delaware counties calling for optical scan was presented to the state Board of Elections on Oct. 10. Paper ballots and optical scanners ...
