The Daily Herald's 2006 cookie contest and swap last November provided an opportunity for me to present a baking topic and mingle with the participants. What fun! Once the floor opened to general questions, I was surprised by all the in-depth queries about various ingredients. People who think no one bakes anymore should have been at this lively event!
Meeting and speaking with readers gives me great feedback for the column and gives me a deep sense of personal satisfaction. If I have inspired any of you to dabble in the art of baking, then I've succeeded.
