WASHINGTON - The House of Representatives defeated an attempt Wednesday to stop the federal government from prosecuting people who use marijuana for medical purposes in states that allow it.
Lawmakers voted 264-161 against a proposal by Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-Saugerties) to stop the Justice Department from going after doctors and patients in the 10 states that permit the medical use of marijuana.
New York is not one of those states, but Hinchey said he got involved ...
