COLONIE - On one of the hottest days so far this summer, Mark Laven had reason to be pleased.
His business, Latham International, makes in-ground swimming pool components and related equipment. Business, he says, is thriving.
Hot, sunny skies aren't the only stimuli. The hassles of travel since Sept. 11, 2001, the climbing cost of gasoline and the rise in house prices all have helped.
