Jan. 19--It's hard to get giddy over tofu.
But Pulmuone Wildwood, a Fullerton maker of the mushy, white protein, is trying to fix that with the help of people like Susan Weisfeld. The Mary Kay consultant from Irvine is part of a panel of Orange County "tasters" who regularly test the factory's flavorful "Westernized" tofu concoctions.
As she is a nontraditional tofu eater (that is, non-Asian), Weisfeld's acceptance of teriyaki tofu burgers, soy smoothies and spicy soy hummus is critical.
