EAST GREENBUSH - With a splash, Rensselaer County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Geracitano let himself drop into the pool at the Greenbush Area YMCA Wednesday morning.
He was dressed in shorts and a slick nylon jacket. And three seconds after entering the water, he was suddenly a lot wider - and a lot more buoyant.
Geracitano was sporting the Float-Tech Life Jacket, a combination of waterproof/breathable jacket and flotation device that inflates upon contact with water. The device is made by Float-Tech Inc. of Troy, a company now with considerable more cachet since receiving U.S. Coast Guard approval in September. ...
