The question ought to be a very simple one. When will the Albany Convention Center Authority, created by the state more than a year ago, have its first meeting?

Might the nine-member body meet, say, before construction of the proposed convention center actually begins? Or is finished?

Getting a bit more existential, does the convention center authority truly exist if it never meets? Or if it's bypassed to the point of its own irrelevance?

The thought arises that the purpose of the convention center authority might not go much beyond satisfying the legal requirements for bonding the $185 million to build it. The real action, it seems, is coming ...
