ALBANY - The city of Albany's hope for a $200 million downtown convention center will get a boost of $75 million in aid from the state, Gov. George Pataki said Monday.
In a news conference with Mayor Jerry Jennings at City Hall, Pataki said the state commitment is part of the budget he will unveil today. The funds will be augmented by $85 million in private sector investment, probably by a hotel company that would partner with the convention center, and $40 million in revenues from an Albany County occupancy tax.
