Jan. 20--Rafael Mendoza's attacker stabbed him in his kicking leg, but he was aiming -- twice -- for his chest. That's the story that emerged Friday in a preliminary hearing for Mitch Cozad, the former University of Northern Colorado punter who is accused of stabbing Mendoza.
Cozad, 21, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, which means prosecutors would have to prove he not only tried to kill Mendoza -- the starting punter -- but thought about what he was doing.
