Jan. 20--More than 50 patients, many of them Radford University students, were treated for stomach problems at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center on Friday.

Carilion spokesman Eric Earnhart said the hospital began receiving patients about 2:30 a.m. for nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration. Of the 53 who had been treated at the hospital, only 11 remained by 9 p.m. Friday. Earnhart said the remaining patients were in good condition and would not have to be admitted.
