FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ The words, coming from Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy five days after his 18-year-old son committed suicide, are indelibly imprinted upon Herman Edwards' memory.
"You make sure you hug Marcus, Herm. We don't hug our sons enough."
Edwards, the Kansas City Chiefs coach, and Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith were at the funeral that day 13 months ago to bury a young man who seemed disconnected from life and whose death filled Dungy and his wife with emotional pain that can be known only to parents who have suffered this kind of loss.
Of course Edwards and Smith would be at the funeral. ...
