Jan. 21--MIAMI -- Walk into the lobby of Cesar Pelli's Knight Concert Hall at the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts and you're dwarfed by its supersized proportions, but inside the hall, where music director Franz Welser-Moest led the Cleveland Orchestra in its first concert of a new 10-year residency on Friday night, it's a casual, easygoing oasis. Light maple for the floors and apricot-colored seat coverings make a pleasant break from the usual concert-hall formality, and the irregular curves and angles of this 2,200-seat hall pull the audience close to the players.
