Article: Too much filibustering in the U.S. Senate. (Originated from Knight-Ridder Newspapers)

One can argue that the brave souls of the U.S. Senate who fight the good fight of a minority party have only the tool of filibustering to hold off evil advances of the majority. Or that it is a reasonable recourse by which honorable public servants can stave off anything that they personally find to be legislatively disagreeable. 
If, however, those beliefs are grounded in the theory that prolonging debate ensures that all facts are aired and all ideas considered, then understand that with filibustering in the U.S. Senate these days, that's not what happens.
