Katherine killers may still face the death penalty.(News)

The Thai fishermen who murdered Cardiff backpacker Katherine Horton could still face the death penalty, an inquest heard today. The prosecution is likely to appeal against the lifting of the death sentences on Bualoi Posit and Wichai Somkhaoyai, Cardiff Coroner's Court was told.

They were originally sentenced to death for Katherine's rape and murder.

But their punishment was reduced to a life sentence in jail.
