Jan. 22--South Bay artist Bob Freimark turns 85 this week, and he celebrated Sunday with a few dozen admirers at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. Freimark, whose tapestries are on exhibit at the museum until April 8, provided most of the gifts -- telling the stories behind his colorful wool pieces, created during the retired San Jose State art professor's annual sojourns to the former Czechoslovakia from 1970 to the early '90s. But Freimark got a few gifts himself, including a large chocolate cake that he cut and helped serve in the museum's lecture room and a bottle of Hennessy cognac he was carrying under his arm later. ...
