Article: Core duo competition.(Electronic Imaging)(Brief article)

In a recent column the praises of the new Core Duo chip were extolled, but in the meantime a core war has broken out between Intel and AMD. The latter has launched its own dual core chip and there have been quite a number of price cuts. Intel fired the first shots when it announced a new 4-core Central Processing Unit (CPU), but this appears to be merely 2 separate Core Duos on a single die. AMD claims that Intel is "pulling the wool over peoples eyes" and that this is not a properly integrated CPU--unlike the one they are producing very soon.

All this is great news for computer users, who are becoming spoiled for choice when buying a CPU, as a serviceable one can ...
