For very obvious anniversarial reasons, Pushkin studies have seen a considerable rise in their fortunes since 1999 and all that--not that they were ever really in the doldrums, of course. The very welcome appearance of J. Douglas Clayton's excellent monograph on Boris Godunov highlights, however, one of the central anomalies of Puskiniana, namely, the relative dearth of studies of this work.
