LAKE OSWEGO, OR -- The Greenbrier Companies and Grupo Industrial Monclova (GIMSA, Monclova, Mexico) have formed a partnership to build railroad cars in Mexico for the North American market. The two companies will build the cars at GIMSA's existing manufacturing facility in Monclova, with each maintaining a 50 percent interest in the effort.
The partnership is currently focusing on covered hopper car production, but will increase its product line in the coming years. Eventually, the Monclova plant's capacity is expected to grow to 3,000 new railcars annually, with multiple ...
