Jan. 23--GLEN CARBON -- A man now facing burglary and other charges apparently tried to twice give authorities the slip -- once by fleeing at more than 100 mph during a chase and then by trying to commit suicide while in police custody.
Michael Anthony Coleman, 38, of East St. Louis, and a female suspect were apprehended Friday after a high-speed chase. Officers left Coleman in a secured interview room at the police station, Glen Carbon Police Chief David Bradford said. "While the officers booked in the (female) suspect, they heard a noise in the room and looked at the surveillance monitor," Bradford said. Coleman had ...
