The Photographic Society of America, Inc. began as an association of camera clubs in 1919 and was expanded to include individual membership in 1934. By 1940, with a diversity of interests among the membership, provision was made for these various interest groups to form "Divisions." The first of these divisions was the Pictorial Division followed by the Nature Division in mid-1940.
Mr. H. J. Johnson, FPSA, served from 1969 to 1986 as our first Nature Division historian.
