The state Health Department has fined an Albany doctor $36,000 and permanently revoked his right to prescribe certain drugs in connection with charges he failed to dispense controlled sustances in proper containers and keep proper records on the dispensing of those drugs.
Dr. Benjamin F. Markowitz, 78, was fined a total of $36,000, but $14,400 of that fine will be suspended on the condition he does not violate drug regulations during the next five years, said William Fagel, a department spokesman.
