great Broadway season would be music to the ears of Dennis Madden, new mayor of Scotia and executive director of Proctor's in Schenectady.
On election day, Madden was demonstrating a singular lack of nerves. In the day-to-day roller- coaster existence of the landmark theater, a mayoral race is the eye of the storm.
Last season, Proctor's enjoyed a banner year, with big-name musicals anchoring a healthy season.
Prior to the September opening of "Pippin," it looked like 1986-87 would be more of the same, with the box office doing more than $1 million in advance sales.
