Jan. 24--Jan. 11 came and went with no notice. It sparked no parades or essay contests. Yet it marked the 252nd birthday of perhaps our most under-appreciated Founding Father, maybe the one Revolutionary figure most symbolic of our nation's opportunities and pitfalls.
So let's get out the candles and celebrate the life and lasting impact of Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury and a unique, self-made figure among the 18th century icons born into wealth and land.
