Jan. 24--This small village may see some big changes this spring.
That's when developers hope to break ground on Crescent Acres, a proposed housing project off Route 12E and County Route 179 that would bring about 500 people into Chaumont in its first phase alone.
"We would like to be in the ground in May," said Peter W. Merle, vice president of Genesee Valley Group Ltd., Rochester.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau's Web site, the village's population as of 2000 was 592.
Mr. Merle said the company began looking at the 236 acres behind the Chaumont Post Office in 2004.
