In his Memorial Day speech this year, President Reagan paid homage to those who lost their lives in World War II, the Vietnam War and the space shuttle disaster.
William T. Norris of Halfmoon said the President, like so many others, forgot to recognize the 54,236 who died during the United States' 3-year "police action," otherwise known as the Korean War.
For many, the thing that comes to mind when the Korean War is mentioned is Hawkeye Pierce strutting around the M*A*S*H compound in his bathrobe, sipping a homemade martini.
