Westchester County Executive Andrew P. O'Rourke was officially chosen Thursday to head the Republican statewide ticket, setting the stage for an uphill fight for the governor's office.
Ulster County District Attorney E. Michael Kavanagh was picked for the lieutenant governor's spot. Both nominations were by acclamation.
Predictably, both O'Rourke and Kavanagh opened fire on incumbent Democrat Gov. Mario M. Cuomo.
