With the presentation of "The Blue Bird" tonight at the Empire State Plaza's Egg, the Moscow Musical Theatre for Children will be offering its signature piece, an exhibition of its Bolshoi-trained ballet corps.

This company uses as its logo the painting of a bluebird, first made famous as a play by the Belgian playwright Maurice Maeterlinck, and produced by the Moscow Art Theatre by Konstantin Stanislavsky.

The link with the present is that music for this 1908 production was written by Ilya Sats, the father of the 82-year-old Natalia Sats, director of the Moscow Musical Theatre for Children.
