One day last week one of my fishing partners and I spent a full day shopping for couple of new fishing rods. We knew the price range of all the popular brands and the prices varied less than $5 between stores. What we were looking for was a bargain.

Finding a real bargain-priced rod can only be accomplished after you know how to establish what constitutes quality. Once you learn how to establish the quality of a particular rod, it is possible to determine if it is simply another competitively priced rod or a bargain worth far more than the asking price.
