American Telephone & Telegraph Co. said Wednesday it was adding about $450 million to its planned June 1 rate cuts, bringing the total to about $2 billion, the biggest reduction in AT&T history.
AT&T's filing Thursday with the Federal Communications Commission will include an overall 11.8 percent reduction for long-distance service, the company said.
The additional cut was revealed by James Olson, AT&T's president and chief operating officer, who was elected Wednesday to succeed Charles Brown as chairman and chief executive.
