Hand Tim Johnson a microphone and he won't burst into song.
Rather, the Ballston Spa resident will probably begin a sing-song chant that's become the trademark of professional auctioneers, mixing abbreviated English with dollar amounts designed to entice the most reluctant bidder.
When Johnson is in the spotlight these days, he's fulfilling what he calls "a lifelong dream" to work as an auctioneer. After 20 years of buying and selling everything from horses to cars to antiques at auctions, Johnson - at age 49 - decided to jump up on the auction block himself.
