This collection of essays follows on the heels of Olga Pelensky's Isak Dinesen: The Life and Imagination of a Seducer, published in 1991, also by Ohio University Press (see Scandinavian Studies 64:1, 176-9). Both books are attractively produced and on a subject of interest to Scandinavianists and general readers alike. Both, however, need to be used with caution.
Isak Dinesen: Critical Views includes twenty-six reviews, articles, and excerpts from books, printed in chronological order and ranging from Aage Hendriksen's seminal 1952 essay, "Karen Blixen and Marionettes," to a selection from a book by Morten Kyndrup published in 1992.
