Wales was awarded a new Michelin star yesterday. The Crown at Whitebrook, Monmouthshire, gained the honour - the first in South Wales since The Walnut Tree lost its star in 2004. The Crown joins Plas Bodegroes in Pwllheli, North Wales, as the only Michelin starred restaurants in Wales. Ynyshir Hall in Mid Wales has lost its place in the guide. The Crown, which also has eight bedrooms, was described as, 'Attentively run, with a modern feel, in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
