Tommy Jones, who wondered if "my days in pinstripes were numbered" after a disappointing 1987 season, will be back as the Albany-Colonie Yankees manager in 1988.
Jones turned down an offer to become the top assistant coach at the University of Miami to remain with the Yankees.
"Tommy is going to come back, unless something else happens," Bobby Hofman, the Yankees' director of player development, said. "And I don't know what else could happen."
Jones said some unfinished business made him want to return.
