Historic Albany Foundation officials, hoping to preserve from demolition the Wellington Hotel and Elks Club buildings in Albany, are upset that furnishings and fixtures from the structures will be auctioned off Sunday.
Ned Pratt, director of the foundation, said retaining the buildings' contents could have helped preserve some of the interior heritage and authenticity. "If he's selling it all off, it seems to mean the end of that," he said.
Confirming the Elks Club and Wellington Hotel have been emptied of their contents, Michael A. Blase Jr., who owned the building with his father, said furniture, fixtures ...
