Most students spend their graduation day celebrating, but Daniel Patton used the occasion to picket.
Patton, a 43-year-old graduate of the University of Rochester, led some of his fellow wheelchair-bound friends in a protest of his college's failure to provide proper access for the handicapped.
"I have to be lifted on and off the conducting podium and that's dangerous," said Patton, who led the protest while students and teachers entered the Eastman Theater for the Eastman School of Music's Sunday afternoon diploma ceremony.
Patton said the university is "insensitive" to handicapped students.
