A sewage spill into the Hoosic River in North Adams, Mass.,last weekend killed thousands of fish, but New York state environmental officials say the dose of pollution has notaffected the river water as it flows through RensselaerCounty.
Despite the apparent absence of danger, New York officials were critical Wednesday of their counterparts in Massachusetts for failing to inform them of the spill for several days.
Massachusetts officials were told about the spill Friday and did not notify a New York official, Timothy Preddice, a senior aquatic biologist, until 3 p.m. Monday.
