Five bridges in the Capital District have been given the worst possible rating of "potentially hazardous" by the state Department of Transportation, according to state records obtained by The Times Union.
The most heavily traveled of the five is the Ontario Street span in Cohoes, which carries Route 470 across the Mohawk River. Three others are located in Rensselaer County: the Babcock Road bridge across Dayfoot Brook in Petersburg and two bridges which carry Factory Hollow Road across Sunkauissia Creek in Pittstown. The fifth is in Cairo, Greene County, where Bald Hill Road crosses Trout Brook.
