It was easier teaching step classes a few years ago. Everyone was new to step. Now, it's common to see novice and skilled steppers in the same class. But throwing a beginner in with a group of advanced students is like telling someone who has never played tennis to enter a local tournament. New steppers may end up frustrated and feeling like they have "two left feet."
Many instructors have new people entering ongoing step classes. While the regular participants may enjoy complex, progressive choreography, new individuals may be overwhelmed.
