In accidental poisonings, bad advice on product labels often creates medical problems that are more serious than the original poisoning, poison experts say.
"We often have to send people to the emergency room for treatment of the first-aid procedure they used after the poisoning," said Thomas E. Kearney, executive director of the Delaware Valley Regional Poison Control Center. "Many medical problems are created by inappropriate first aid - frequently suggested on the product label.
