Article: ADS POINT TO HAZARDS OF MARIJUANA USE.(Living Today)

Byline: Mark Bowden Knight-Ridder Newspapers

In the ad, a man wearing a white lab coat leads a timid young man down a long hallway into what looks likes an operating room.

An ingratiating voice invites the youth to be a guinea pig in an experiment that will alter his brain, resulting in memory loss, cardiac and respiratory problems, possible genetic damage, even early senility. As the youth, now visibly frightened, is strapped down to a chair, the voice intones:

"Unfortunately, this is not an experiment. This is what slowly happens to you when you keep smoking pot. No one has to alter your brain; you've volunteered to do it to yourself."
