Basketball and football have traditionally ranked at opposite ends of the Siena College athletic spectrum.
The basketball team plays a Division I schedule with scholarship players in a brightly-lit field house. The football team has been anonymous, playing on an inadequate field, with a roster of walk-ons and in the nether world of club football.
But beginning next year, Siena football is expected to rise to a higher level - Division III - as a member of the new Atlantic Collegiate Football Conference.
