Just half an hour after Pope John Paul II's motorcade passed within several blocks, South African commandos opened fire Wednesday night on guerrillas holding 69 pilgrims hostage on a hijacked bus in this mountain kingdom capital, killing three hijackers and capturing the fourth.
A female hostage was also killed in the shootout, the South African police said, and 11 persons were wounded, four of them seriously.
