A 30-year-old city Republican ward leader is challenging U.S. Rep. Samuel Stratton's bid for a 16th term in Congress.
"I am definitely running and have filed with the Federal Election Commission," Peter M. Bakal said Friday. A formal announcement will be made as he officially begins his campaign in June, Bakal said.
Though Stratton has not formally announced he will seek a 16th term, the Schenectady Democrat filed last year with the Federal Election Commission his intention run for re- election and he is expected to make a formal announcement in June.
