A high-ranking state official was attacked this weekend at his summer home in this northern Warren County town by a dog that the local sheriff's department identified as a pit bull, a breed increasingly criticized and feared for its reputed viciousness.
The official, Daniel McAuley, 45, may have suffered permanent muscle and nerve damage in his right arm where the 11-month-old male dog, named Tyson, dug its teeth into his bicep, said his wife, Dana, on Monday. "It was like a horror movie," she said.
