Most people in the world can't digest lactose (milk sugar) properly; for many, drinking much milk causes gas, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.
If you're intolerant to lactose, though, you don't necessarily have to give up milk products. New products and new approaches to timing, quantity and types of foods are allowing many lactose-intolerant people to eat dairy products and take advantage of milk's abundant protein and calcium.
