Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis holds a 2-to-1 lead over Jesse Jackson in "super delegates" who have lined up behind a Democratic presidential contender, and that 33-vote edge among party leaders represents almost all of the distance between the two candidates.
Dukakis, who has the overall lead in Democratic National Convention delegates, gained 15 super delegates over the last month, bringing his total from that group to 63.5, according to a survey by The Associated Press. Including delegates won in primaries and caucuses so far, Dukakis has a total of 754.15.
