Melinda Phillips got herself arrested in a mask and multi- colored robe while performing political satire on the streets of Santiago, Chile.
Vincent Nicotina is being paid to travel, flute and guitar in hand, to Italy, Spain, Greece, Algiers and Morocco, where he will listen to, and possibly jam with, the bands he finds there.
Phillips and Nicotina, from Union College in Schenectady, are recipients of Thomas J. Watson fellowships.
There were 75 Watson fellowships awarded nationwide to university seniors this year.
The awards are named for the founder of IBM, who began the program in 1968. In ...
