For Capital District Christians, Palm Sunday was a day for both celebration and sorrow.
As churches began Holy Week, they marked the occasion of Jesus Christ's arrival in Jerusalem to welcoming cheers and a "red carpet" of tree branches.
Less than one week later, however, when the churches celebrate Good Friday, they will mark Jesus' death by crucifixion. Holy Week concludes Easter Sunday, when Christians everywhere dress up in their finest to attend services and celebrate the day they believe Christ rose from the dead.
